Justice for Murdered Missing Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit People
American Indian women, girls and Two Spirit people are more than twice in the average population to go missing, murdered or acts of violence against them. The statistics are much greater for indigenous women.
“A recent study by the Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI) revealed that only 116 of the 5,712 cases of murdered or missing Native women were logged into the Department of Justice’s nationwide database.”
Seattle had 74 cases of indigenous women who were killed or reported missing, the most of any city. And Washington state had the second-highest number of any state. #MMIWGTS
